Buyer/Planner

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review purchase requisitions
  • Secure and analyze quotations; negotiate prices and terms with suppliers and contractors; and recommend suppliers and contractors with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities
  • Work with current and prospective suppliers to determine and verify supply capabilities, transportation logistics inventory control and management, negotiate prices and delivery terms
  • Prepare purchase orders from purchase requisitions; obtain purchase order approvals or approve purchase orders as appropriate
  • Place approved purchase orders with component suppliers and contractors within approved spending limits
  • Maintain purchasing record files
  • Ensure that all materials are received in a timely manner. Follow up on all purchase orders to ensure that scheduled delivery dates are met
  • Coordinate return of nonconforming materials to suppliers and contractors
  • Comply with our ISO 9001 and 13485 Quality System standards
  • Propose operational changes to the Director of Materials to improve efficiency, eliminate wasteful processes and to reduce cost (e.g. methods of planning, forecasting, MPS etc.)

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years prior experience in MRP, Production Planning, purchasing, expediting, or other materials management discipline is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic Inventory Control principles and techniques
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work independently and be detail-oriented
  • Possess a strong work ethic, coupled with competencies in customer service, organization, and problem-solving
  • Excellent time-management, interpersonal, and communication skills
